Since I was six years old, I have always loved camping. One of my earliest
memories was camping with my older brother, father, and uncle in the back country
of the high Uintas in northern Utah. I do not remember seeing another soul for three
days as we hiked, camped, and fished in remote mountain streams.

It was the beginning of a life-longenjoyment of the great outdoors.
However, also vivid in my
memory of this trip was my carrying of a big heavy sleeping bag for many miles. Even
from this early age, I thought that there just HAD to be a better way to carry gear
into the wilderness. On nearly every camp out since then, these thoughts have
resurfaced, and I have learned that others have had similar feelings and experiences
with back-packing.
A few years ago, I told my wife about a wonderful spot in the Catalina Mountains
near Tucson that I had seen as part of some scout master training. It was about
a mile hike to a beautiful pond and campsite. We had two toddlers at the time but
I thought we could easily make the trek. As it turned out, the hike was very
ambitious. My wife carried our older toddler in a child pack. I donned a backpack,
carried a baby in one arm, and rolled our laundry cart full of supplies with another.
Even though we had a good time, I realized that I should invent some sort of hiker's
cart designed for trails and back country use.
Following a back injury, and unable to back-pack comfortably for a time, I had
the incentive I needed to explore a design for a trail cart. After making and testing
dozens of prototypes, I have developed a unique design which has many
applications. The resulting camping cart has great potential for camping, as well
as many uses for sports and other activities. A bicycle hitch makes the cart even
more versatile. I named it the Sherpa Cart after the hearty porters who
transport heavy loads for Himalayan expeditions.
In summary, the Sherpa Cart is a new tool that can help people, young
and old, better enjoy their outdoor experiences. After all, time spent alone or with
friends and family in the out-of-doors should provide only the very best of memories ....
